Plastic Memories

Plastic memories is a slice of life anime that is set in the future. In this future, human like androids take the roles of caretakers and companions for a variety of purposes. No, not that kind, this is a family orientated anime after all. However, these android "Giftias", come with an expiry dates when they start to lose their will and memories, thus necessitating the need to decommission them before red iRobot happens. Think iRobot without the rebellion and the self will already in place, and fluffier exteriors.

Maximum Fluffy

Our MC is the typical run of the mill harem lead - weak-willed, wishy washy and got into the company through personal connections. Not that this does him any good, as the company president throws him into the runt division of the company, involved in decommissioning near expired Giftias.

He is soon partnered up with the female lead, a Giftia named Isla who is similarly incompetent. Just why that is so has not been revealed. They work as a team to persuade/counsel people to part with their Giftias. I assume taking them out with C4 does not go very well with customer loyalty.

As slice of life animes go, this has decidedly less humor and a sombre mood, as the cast goes about their business of being "Giftia reapers". With death flags all over the place, the love comedy has been toned down to a minimum. Isla is cute and the art is nice, which is all i can say about this for the moment. Drama is to be expected, though whether people will find it overdone remains to be seen.

Better watch out, these two are both Giftias
The candidates for "Best Girl" is severely lacking, as there are only two candidates - one of which has a death flag.

The other love interest. MC should move his arm a bit to his right.
With four episodes down the hatch, the characters are mostly involved in counseling and social work. Some trouble with their company is expected down the line, with the usual "I'm going to die" mood.

With Isla making funny faces out of the way, I expect a pretty average run with no major surprises or twists. The foreshadowing has been pretty clear so far on what to expect, so i don't think an alien invasion might happen anytime soon. Fans of the action/seinen genre might want to give this a skip, as Naruto won't be making a cameo as the 7th Hokage.

Genre: SOL, Comedy, Drama
Art: 7/10. Pretty good, which might mean we 'll have quality moments later on.
Direction: 7/10. Nothing out of pace, nor does it feel rushed. Scenes fits pretty well.
Attractiveness: 6/10. I would continue watching it but not rewatch an episode.
Overall: 7/10.
